This is a scene from a past game that I ran. For the second plotline of the game the players were dimensional gated to another realm called Eventide against there will by a lord of chaos. The players needed to find their way back to their own world, but first they needed answers in this one.
In Eventide there was very little in terms of magic (it was a very mundane world), however, the players retained their own magic. This made the players seem like gods to the people of Eventide, so naturally the players were approached by many people to help solve their problems.
One of these problems was a tyrant betrayer king who took over the kingdom unlawfully and was now running it into the ground. The players needed to free one of old Dukes who had been imprisioned decades ago by the usurper king. This Duke was held in a Fortress called Iron Gate, a Fortress that has never failed to defend against a seige. One of this king's most trusted allies was also in Iron Gate, a man who claimed to be a powerful wizard... but really wasn't.
The players had to break into this fortress with only a small army. At one point the army was spotted and was fired on by a trebuchet (or catapult). Rather than let it hit the army the powerful player character Anondara caught the boulder mid air with his magic and hurled it back at the city walls.
